GIS Analyst
Location: Portland, OR (Onsite)
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented GIS Analyst to support utility operations through the collection, analysis, and interpretation of geospatial data. The ideal candidate will leverage GIS technologies, spatial analysis tools, and database systems to create mapping products, support business operations, and provide data-driven insights for internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, interpret, and integrate geospatial data from maps, databases, satellite imagery, aerial photography, and other sources.
- Perform spatial analysis using GIS software and relational database management systems.
- Develop and maintain accurate cartographic products, maps, and reports to support utility operations and business initiatives.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while tracking requests, deadlines, and project status.
- Collaborate with internal departments, external agencies, businesses, and community organizations to address operational and public service needs.
- Respond to data requests and provide customized GIS solutions to stakeholders.
- Serve as a liaison during meetings with external entities, industry groups, and community organizations.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and applicable standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to GIS data quality, processes, and technology.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geospatial Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 3–5 years of relevant experience.
- Candidates without a bachelor's degree must possess a minimum of 7 years of related GIS experience.
- Experience working with GIS software, spatial analysis, and geospatial data management.
- Experience supporting utility, infrastructure, engineering, or environmental projects.
- Strong understanding of GIS principles, cartography, spatial analysis, and automated mapping techniques.
- Knowledge of GPS survey concepts, attribute data conversion, and relational database design.
- Experience with SQL and database management systems.
- Familiarity with structured programming concepts and GIS automation tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
