RN – Cardiac Cath Lab / Pre-Admission Testing
Location: Newton, NJ

Schedule: 4 days/week, approximately 9.5 hours/day
Hours: 40 hours/week
Shift Time: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Orientation: 16 hours
Compensation
- Weekly Gross: $3,600
- Taxable: $2,354/week
- Non-Taxable: $1,246/week
- Base Pay: $58.85/hour
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse – Cardiac Cath Lab to provide comprehensive patient care across the perioperative continuum, including pre-operative and post-operative assessment, patient education, documentation, and procedure-specific care.
Responsibilities
- Perform thorough and accurate patient assessments from pediatric through geriatric populations.
- Provide direct patient care and demonstrate competent clinical nursing skills.
- Demonstrate knowledge of emergency equipment and procedures.
- Maintain complete and accurate patient documentation.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative assessment and education.
- Assess patients' understanding of surgical procedures and instructions.
- Individualize patient care based on the procedure and type of anesthesia.
- Monitor patient responses and understanding throughout the continuum of care.
- Support the perioperative team by prioritizing patient care according to clinical needs and changes in condition.
- Follow National Patient Safety Goals, Universal Protocol, and two-patient-identifier requirements.
- Maintain patient confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines.
- Support completion of Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) in a timely manner.
- Evaluate PAT orders for appropriateness and identify potential omissions based on the proposed procedure, patient age, and current health status.
- Work collaboratively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of critical care experience – Required
- Active RN License – Required
- BLS – Required
- ACLS – Required
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
On-Call Requirement
- STEMI on-call requirement: 10–12 shifts per month.
- Includes 1–2 weekends per month.
- Weekend call runs from Friday 5:00 PM through Monday 7:00 AM and counts toward the 10–12 monthly call shifts.
Travel Requirements
- Travel RNs must live 50 miles from the facility.
- Local candidates may be considered at $10 less on the bill rate.
- COVID vaccination and booster required; medical and religious declinations accepted.
- Flu vaccination required during flu season; medical declination accepted.
- NIHSS is not required for Newton Medical Center.
