Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Interventional Radiology (IR) to join our dynamic healthcare team. Duties
- Prepare patients for interventional radiology procedures by conducting comprehensive assessments, reviewing medical histories, and explaining procedures to ensure informed consent.
- Assist physicians during procedures by maintaining aseptic technique, managing sterile fields, and operating imaging equipment such as fluoroscopy and CT scanners.
- Administer medications including local anesthetics, sedatives, and Botulinum toxin treatments with precision and adherence to protocols.
- Monitor patient vital signs continuously during procedures, recognizing signs of distress or adverse reactions promptly.
- Manage post-procedure care by observing patients for complications such as bleeding or allergic reactions, providing pain management, and documenting findings accurately in electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems).
- Perform venipuncture, IV insertions, catheterizations, and suturing as required for various interventional procedures.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including radiologists, anesthesiologists, and other specialists to coordinate care plans tailored to individual patient needs.
- Ensure compliance with infection control standards and maintain sterile processing of equipment.
- Educate patients on post-procedure care instructions and follow-up requirements to promote recovery and safety.
- Maintain thorough medical documentation in accordance with HIPAA regulations and institutional policies.
Qualifications
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) with valid state certification.
- Proven experience working in interventional radiology or related specialties such as cardiology, neurology, or vascular surgery.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or similar platforms.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Experience administering Botulinum toxin treatments and managing complex medication protocols.
- Familiarity with imaging modalities such as fluoroscopy, CT scans, ultrasound, and laboratory testing including ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10).
- Competence in aseptic technique, IV infusion therapy, venipuncture, suturing, and specimen collection.
- Critical care experience preferred; familiarity with ICU protocols is advantageous.
- Excellent patient assessment skills coupled with the ability to respond effectively during critical situations such as acute pain episodes or trauma scenarios.
- Knowledge of Workers' Compensation law relevant to occupational injuries is beneficial.
- Ability to work collaboratively within diverse healthcare teams across outpatient clinics and inpatient settings.
