Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory team. Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care before, during, and after cardiac catheterization procedures, including angiograms, stent placements, and electrophysiology studies.
- Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and oxygenation levels continuously using advanced EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic and Cerner.
- Administer medications safely, including IV infusions and Botulinum toxin treatments when indicated for specific patient needs.
- Maintain strict aseptic technique during invasive procedures to prevent infection and ensure patient safety.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including cardiologists, radiologists, anesthesiologists, and laboratory personnel to coordinate patient care.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, educate patients on procedure preparation and post-procedure care, including discharge planning.
- Assist with diagnostic evaluations such as echocardiograms, CT scans related to cardiac health, and laboratory specimen collection.
- Document all nursing interventions accurately in medical records while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Manage acute pain and respond effectively to emergent situations within a Level I Trauma Center setting or similar high-acuity environment.
- Support patients with complex needs such as those requiring dialysis access management or working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
Skills
- Proven experience in cardiac catheterization procedures and acute care settings; experience in Level I trauma centers is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, and Athenahealth for documentation and order entry.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology related to cardiology and critical care nursing.
- Skilled in IV insertion, venipuncture, suturing techniques, and sterile processing protocols.
- Familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding for procedures performed in the cath lab.
- Ability to perform patient assessments accurately and respond swiftly during emergencies such as airway management or ventilator support.
- Experience working with diverse populations including geriatrics in memory care or assisted living environments; familiarity with infectious disease care is advantageous.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic techniques essential for invasive procedures.
- Excellent communication skills for patient education on complex treatments like gastrostomy tube feeding or ostomy care.
- Competence in managing medical documentation related to medication administration, laboratory results, and diagnostic evaluations.
