🎯 About the Role

The Flavorist is responsible for creating, optimizing, and duplicating flavor systems for applications across nutraceuticals, beverages, and other categories. This role combines creativity, sensory expertise, and technical knowledge to develop innovative flavor solutions that meet customer expectations, application requirements, regulatory standards, and business objectives.


As a key member of the R&D team, the Flavorist partners closely with customers, Sales and Application Scientists. The Flavorist plays a critical role in advancing flavor innovation, supporting customer-driven projects, and ensuring successful scale-up from concept through commercial production.


🧩 Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, modify, and duplicate liquid and powder flavors for various applications.
  • Create flavor profiles that meet customer requirements, technical specifications, regulatory standards, and cost objectives.
  • Formulate and evaluate applications to ensure optimal flavor performance in finished products.
  • Analyze and duplicate competitive products using appropriate flavor ingredients and technologies.
  • Conduct sensory evaluations of flavors, prototypes, raw materials, and finished products.
  • Present flavor prototypes and recommendations to customers and internal teams.
  • Provide technical support to QA/QC and Production teams, including troubleshooting and formula adjustments as needed.


πŸ‘€ Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in sweet flavor creation and flavor formulation.
  • BS in Food Science/Technology, Food Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field preferred.
  • Certified member of the Society of Flavor Chemist preferred.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of food chemistry and flavor compounds.
  • Excellent sensory evaluation skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and math skills for formulation and calculation work.
  • Knowledge of GMP, accuracy and speed on dosing capabilities.

Compensation: Depending on experience


Essential functions of this role include the ability to regularly sit at a desk, utilize a computer, and stand for up to 8 hours daily, and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
