Mission/Objective: Ensure all robots, PLCs, and automation systems operate safely and efficiently through standardization and continuous improvement.
Lead the execution of ODiX Digital Transformation in the plant, driving implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies and fostering a culture of innovation and data-driven improvement.
What does your day look like?
- Train maintenance technicians to troubleshoot and repair automation systems independently.
- Respond to escalated troubleshooting or repair calls on robotic and PLC-controlled equipment.
- Manage, validate, and document all control system changes; ensure software backups and governance.
- Support new automation and controls projects, leading ODiX and i4.0 product implementation.
- Identify opportunities to improve product and process quality through automation.
- Promote safety, report hazards, and drive continuous improvement in plant operations.
- Additional responsibilities as required – this position is subject to change as the needs of the department change

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT/ TRAINING
- Work on improving reliability of controls systems through standardization and problem solving / continuous improvement.
- Track KPIs related to the area and develop projects to improve to improve them
- Develop and implement improvements and ideas to reduce cost
- Actively involved with the Metalsa Model and MOS practices
Academic and Experience
- Associate degree in Electronics, Computer Science, or related field; Bachelor’s in Automation, Controls, or Electronics Engineering preferred.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience programming and troubleshooting robotics (preferably Fanuc) and PLCs.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in industrial automation, equipment specification, and installation.
- Experience with Industry 4.0 technologies and data analytics.
Technical Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong understanding of automation control systems and process improvement.
- Experience with Allen Bradley PLC & HMI programming, industrial networks, and communication protocols.
- Knowledge of Quality Systems Management and project documentation.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes (Stamping, Welding, Painting, Assembly, Hydroforming).
- Skilled in problem-solving, Power BI, and automation hardware/software selection.
