What are the responsibilities and job description for the Outside Commercial Sales Representative position at Metalmaster Roofmaster?
Job Summary:
We are looking for a seasoned commercial roofing sales professional to join the Metalmaster Roofmaster team. The right candidate knows how to find work, build relationships, and close roof replacement contracts. This is a sales role, not an estimating desk. You will own your pipeline, source your own leads, and work directly with property owners, facility managers, and general contractors across the greater Chicago area. Technical knowledge of commercial roofing systems -- flat and steep -- is required. An existing book of business is a significant plus.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead Generation & Business Development:
· Identify and pursue commercial roof replacement opportunities through direct prospecting, referrals, and site visits.
· Build and maintain a pipeline of commercial prospects: property managers, building owners, facility directors, and general contractors.
· Bring your own leads. An existing client roster makes you a standout candidate.
· Sales & Client Relations:
· Develop and maintain relationships with decision-makers across your territory.
· Present proposals and estimates in a clear, professional manner.
· Respond to RFQs/RFPs and follow up to close.
· Negotiate contracts and close sales in coordination with the project management team.
· Estimate Preparation:
· Perform on-site roof inspections to assess project scope, materials, labor, and timeline.
· Prepare your own competitive estimates and proposals for replacement and re-roofing projects from site visit through contract.
· Use estimating tools to develop accurate cost breakdowns for labor, materials, and subcontractors.
· Project Coordination:
· Collaborate with the operations team to make sure what you sell gets delivered right.
· Attend pre-bid and job meetings as required.
· Market Awareness:
· Stay current on building conditions in your territory, competitor activity, and industry trends.
· Share market intelligence with the estimating and operations teams.
Qualifications:
· 5-10 years of experience in commercial roofing sales, or estimating with a strong sales track record.
· Solid knowledge of commercial roofing systems: TPO, EPDM, PVC, modified bitumen, built-up, and metal.
· Working knowledge of steep-slope systems is a plus.
· Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
· Valid driver's license; comfortable on rooftops in all weather conditions.

· Base salary commission

Pay: $90,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
