Role Description The Maintenance Mechanic role at MSC is a full-time, on-site position based in Hartford, CT. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production and coating equipment, including plasma and flame-spray systems, robotic coating equipment, and related machinery. Day-to-day tasks include performing preventive and corrective maintenance, diagnosing mechanical and basic electrical issues, replacing and adjusting parts, and ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently. The Maintenance Mechanic will document maintenance activities, follow established safety and quality procedures, and collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to minimize downtime and support continuous improvement. The role may also involve assisting with equipment installations, calibrations, and upgrades to support evolving customer and production requirements.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong skills in Equipment Maintenance and Industrial Maintenance for production and coating systems.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Preventive Maintenance to schedule, perform, and document routine service activities.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Corrective Maintenance and Maintenance & Repair to diagnose issues and restore equipment to safe, efficient operation.
  • Candidates should have knowledge of mechanical systems (pneumatic, hydraulic, rotating equipment) and basic electrical troubleshooting.
  • Candidates should demonstrate familiarity with manufacturing or industrial environments, preferably involving thermal spray or similar coating processes.
  • Candidates should be able to read and interpret technical documentation, including equipment manuals, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Candidates should have a strong commitment to workplace safety, quality standards, and continuous improvement.
  • Candidates should possess effective communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Relevant technical training or certification in industrial maintenance, mechanical technology, or a related field is preferred; prior experience as a maintenance mechanic or technician in manufacturing is highly beneficial.
