Metal Inspector/Greeter

• Greet the peddlers and customers with courtesy.
• Excellent customer service experience.
• Inspect all scrap loads to identify prohibited items, assign correct commodity codes, and assign deductions according to best practices.
• Inspect customer materials for liquids, non-metallic materials, and other non-acceptable materials (i.e. propane tanks, PCBs, batteries, etc.)
• Identify and record inspection data to include weight, grade, content, and quantity of scrap material.
• Ensure customers drop the correct material in the correct designated areas.
• Direct peddler/customer to the drop-off locations.
• Communicate via 2-way radio with Weigh Master and yard personnel.
• Direct peddler/customer through the outbound scale and instruct on payout procedure.
• Train to operate heavy equipment (i.e.forklift, bobcat, loader, & crane)
• Load and unload scrap materials.
• Clean and prepare job site in a tidy and safe manner.
• Remove snow and other debris from scales and peddler area.
• Must be able to perform a variety of tasks in all kinds of weather/seasons.
• Cross train in other tasks as needed.
Required to wear proper PPE (steel toed boots, hard hat, safety glasses, etc.).

• High School degree or equivalent preferred.
• Able to operate a bobcat, forklift, loader a plus.
• Ability to lift 50lbs. and stand for long period of time.
• Knowledge of the various ferrous and non-ferrous metals a plus.
• Quick learner who can follow directions.
• Good communication skills.
• Team player.
• Organized, consistent, and good a multitasking.
Must have a reliable means of transportation to work.

• Frequently required to stand; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
• Specific vision includes close vision and ability to adjust focus.
• Standing for extended periods of time.
• Lifts/carries at least 50 lbs from the floor to waist level.
• Push/pull material weighing 50 lbs at a time.
Physically able to participate in sessions, presentations, meetings, and trainings.

• Outside in the Yard is where temperature and weather extremes (heat, cold, rain, snow) may be encountered.
• Work may take place in an industrial environment, with noise, dust and fumes.
Noise level in the work environment can be moderate at times, hearing protection is provided by the company at all times.
