Metalcrafters NC is looking for a motivated and exceptionally detail-oriented Architectural Detailer to join our growing detailing team. This position plays a critical role in transforming architectural and structural drawings, project specifications, and field information into accurate 2D drawings and 3D models used to fabricate and install miscellaneous and architectural metal products.

We're looking for someone who is teachable, trainable, hard-working, and proactive with a strong technical mindset and a commitment to accuracy. The ideal candidate has a working knowledge of AutoCAD and is eager to develop their skills in Tekla Structures, which will be utilized extensively in this position.

What You'll Be Responsible For

• Review and interpret architectural drawings, structural drawings, specifications, and project documents
• Create accurate and detailed shop drawings for miscellaneous and architectural metal projects
• Develop 2D drawings and 3D models for stairs, handrails, guardrails, ladders, platforms, gates, structural components, and other custom metal products
• Utilize AutoCAD and Tekla Structures to create and revise project drawings and models
• Learn and develop proficiency in Tekla Structures through company training and hands-on project experience
• Prepare clear, accurate, and fabrication-ready drawings for use by shop production and installation teams
• Detail dimensions, materials, connections, welds, attachments, and other information necessary for fabrication and installation
• Review drawings and models for accuracy, completeness, and constructability before releasing them for production
• Incorporate field measurements, project changes, redlines, RFIs, and drawing revisions as required
• Identify drawing conflicts, missing information, dimensional discrepancies, and potential fabrication or installation issues before they reach production
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Estimators, shop personnel, and installation teams to clarify project requirements
• Maintain accurate drawing revisions, project files, and detailing documentation
• Assist in developing material lists, component information, and other production documentation as required
• Respond to questions from the fabrication shop and installation teams regarding drawings and project details
• Manage multiple projects, drawing revisions, and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy
• Take ownership of assigned work and proactively communicate questions, concerns, or potential project issues
• Follow established Metalcrafters detailing standards, procedures, and project workflows
• Utilize the Metalcrafters app for project documentation, drawing updates, workflow tracking, communication, and other detailing-related tasks as required.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge and experience with AutoCAD
• Experience with Tekla Structures preferred
• Previous drafting, detailing, CAD, construction, architectural, engineering, or metal fabrication experience preferred
• Experience with 2D drafting and/or 3D modeling
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings, dimensions, specifications, and construction documents
• Strong computer skills and technical aptitude with the ability to learn new software and systems
• Ability to visualize components, connections, and assemblies in a 3D environment
• Strong understanding of measurements, dimensions, and basic geometry
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Teachable and trainable with a willingness to learn Metalcrafters' detailing standards, processes, and software
• Hard-working, dependable, and motivated with a strong work ethic
• Proactive mindset with the ability to identify potential problems and seek clarification before they affect fabrication or installation
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
• Ability to accept feedback, make corrections, and apply what is learned to future work
• Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, revisions, and deadlines
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to work independently once properly trained while also contributing effectively within a team environment
• Strong communication skills and willingness to ask questions when project information is unclear
• Understanding of metal fabrication, welding, stairs, railings, or miscellaneous metals is a plus
• Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential
