Best-known for the vessel fleets it produces for the U.S. Armed Forces and allies around the globe, Metal Shark has expanded its focus to include state, local, and commercial operators across a wide range of markets. Today, the Louisiana-based company produces a wider range of specialty vessels than perhaps any comparable yard. Key markets served include fire rescue, law enforcement, military, passenger vessels, pilot boats, various workboat operators and other specialty operators.
Job Title: Outfitter
Reports to: Outfitting Superintendent
Location: Jeanerette
Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Hours: 6:00 AM–5:00 PM, Monday–Thursday
6:00 AM-12:00 PM, Friday
Potential for overtime on Weekdays and Weekends
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Possesses a thorough understanding of AC & DC circuits.
- Possesses a thorough understanding of Mechanical, HVAC, and Propulsion systems.
- Has the ability to troubleshoot any issues Mechanically or electrically.
- Must be able to operate hand tools and power tools efficiently and safely.
- Ability to understand and troubleshoot communication and navigational equipment.
- Ability to Install and terminate multi-complex electrical systems and integrate with mechanical systems.
- Ability to Install and terminate multi-complex mechanical systems and integrate with electrical systems.
- Ability to understand and redline Electrical, mechanical, propulsion, and structural schematics.
- Independently plan and execute complex installations with minimal oversight.
- Maintains exemplary shop practices, cleanliness, safety compliance, and documentation standards.
- Leads installation and integration of complex multi-system platforms, ensuring propulsion, electronics, and support systems operate safely, efficiently, and mission-ready.
- Ability to diagnose electrical and mechanical failures while offering a solution.
- Oversees installation and alignment of propulsion systems including jets, shafts, exhaust, and cooling systems
- Demonstrates professionalism, leadership presence, and a solutions-focused mindset at all times while helping teams meet ABYC standards.

Pay: $22.00 - $34.00 per hour
