Best-known for the vessel fleets it produces for the U.S. Armed Forces and allies around the globe, Metal Shark has expanded its focus to include state, local, and commercial operators across a wide range of markets. Today, the Louisiana-based company produces a wider range of specialty vessels than perhaps any comparable yard. Key markets served include fire rescue, law enforcement, military, passenger vessels, pilot boats, various workboat operators, recreational, and other specialty operators.
Job Title: Outfitter Class 1
Reports to: Rigging Foreman
Location: Jeanerette
Status: Hourly
Hours: Full Time, 6:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. M-F, 40 hours per week
Potential for overtime on Weekdays and Weekends
Education or Required Experience:
· Reading AC/DC electrical schematics.
· Preferred ABYC Marine Electrical Certification but not required.
· Reading mechanical and propulsion schematics.
· Reading fuel system schematics.
Required Skills:
Possesses a thorough understanding of AC or DC circuit operation and theory.
Proficiently troubleshoots any electrical, nav, communication, NMEA 2000, and engine data issues.
Understands and can utilize all functions of a multimeter.
Tests circuits for voltage, continuity, and amp draw.
Properly connects isolation transformers.
Terminates antenna and video connections.
Terminates ethernet connections.
Understands network communication.
Programs motors, communication, and nav equipment.
Read manufacturer documentation to determine how to install and integrate engine electrical, control, and communication systems.
Understands the function and install of marine electronics such as AIS, Radar, transponders, and transducers.
Can QC electrical schematics and effectively communicate issues to foreman.
Basic understanding of proper wire and circuit protection sizing.
Cleans up shop and work area.
Must be able to install systems including but not limited to fire suppression, steering, cooling, fuel, DC systems related to engines, fire pumps, jets, drive shafts and exhaust.
Install generators.
Install and plumb AC and generator cooling water pickup systems.
Run and troubleshoot generator systems.
Troubleshoot all engine discrepancies.
Proficiently use a multimeter.
Program engine communication and integration systems.
Install and integrate NMEA2000 with engine systems.
Assist pulling wires.
Install windows and doors.
Seal windows and floor plates.
Drill holes and mount items below the waterline.
Spot and install ceiling panels.
Install mast.
Spot and install transducers.
Spot and install through hulls.
Spot and install lifting eyes.
Spot and install ballistic rails.
Spot and install seats.
Spot and install dash.
Install Wing collar and retention plates.
Install Air Conditioning Systems and ducting.
Fix Wing collar discrepancies.
Install rub rails.
Possesses all required skills of an outfitter class 2 and class 3.
Has the ability to train a class 2 or 3 to do all the required skills listed above.
Has the ability to maintain a positive attitude along with possessing the required skills above.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50lbs. Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, squat or kneel regularly, as well as climb stairs and ladders to complete tasks.
