Job Summary
This role involves setting up, operating, and programming CNC machines (mills, lathes, or other equipment) to produce precision parts and components according to technical drawings and specifications. The ideal candidate has a strong background in CNC machining, G-code programming, and a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities for CNC Machinist / Programmer
· Interpret and analyze engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD models.
· Program CNC machines using G-code, CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Gibbs CAM), or at the control.
· Set up CNC machines (mills, lathes, or other equipment), including tooling, work holding, and offsets.
· Operate machines to perform tasks such as drilling, milling, turning, and grinding.
· Inspect finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
· Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC equipment.
· Optimize programs and machining processes for efficiency, tool life, and quality.
· Maintain clean, organized, and safe work environment following company safety guidelines.
· Collaborate with engineers, quality control, and other team members to ensure production accuracy and timelines.
· Document setups and processes for repeatability.
· Operate Metal Pros Dashboard App either on computer (MP provided) or your smart phone. Record all required information for each part manufactured or modified. This information includes but may not be limited to # of parts started, # of parts good, # hours worked on part, machines used to manufacture, gauges used to inspect, update status of your project, assign or unassign your name based on if you are currently working on the part.
Qualifications for Machinist/Programmer
· High School Degree or equivalent, 2 year degree in CNC Machine Tool preferred.
· Be proficient in reading blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings.
· Experience with CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Gibbs CAM) preferred.
· Be skilled in machine setup and operation (mills, lathes, or multi-axis machines).
· Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
· Knowledge of metal properties and machining practices.
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
