Position Summary:

The Lead Quality Systems Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality management systems across all facilities to ensure compliance with aerospace standards and chemical processing regulations. This role drives continuous improvement initiatives, ensures product and process integrity, and supports the maintenance of certifications required for aerospace operations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and improve the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Ensure compliance with chemical processing regulations, including environmental, health, and safety requirements.
  • Lead internal audits and support external audits by customers and regulatory agencies.
  • Manage document control systems, including procedures, work instructions, and specifications.
  • Investigate non-conformances, implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and track effectiveness.
  • Monitor key quality metrics and generate reports for management review.
  • Support risk management activities, including FMEA and process hazard analyses.
  • Provide training to staff on quality systems, compliance requirements, and best practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.

Qualifications:.

  • 3–7 years of experience in quality systems within aerospace, chemical processing, or a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, and relevant chemical processing standards.
  • Experience with auditing (internal and external) and CAPA systems.
  • Proficiency in quality tools such as root cause analysis, SPC, and risk assessment methods.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with NADCAP accreditation processes, especially for chemical processing (e.g., plating, coating).
  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Certification such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA).
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace standards (AS9100) and special process controls.
  • Experience leading internal and external audits, including customer and regulatory audits.
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone).
  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and data-driven quality analysis.
  • Familiarity with risk management tools such as FMEA and control plans.
  • Experience with document control systems and configuration management.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience (Green Belt or higher preferred).
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills

Work Environment:

  • This position requires on-site presence in Seattle, with potential travel to regional company locations.
  • Combination of office and production floor environment.
  • Exposure to chemical processing areas, requiring adherence to PPE and safety protocols.
