We are a growing fabrication business with approximately 50 employees specializing in precision custom production and prototype sheet metal projects. We're seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to join our team as Quality Control / Operations Manager. This dual-role position combines hands-on quality assurance with operational oversight to ensure our products meet the highest standards while driving efficient production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations, including production scheduling, workflow optimization, inventory management, and team coordination to meet deadlines and efficiency goals.
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality control processes, including inspections, testing, and compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001 or relevant certifications).
- Lead quality assurance initiatives: perform dimensional checks, weld inspections, material verification, and root-cause analysis for defects to minimize waste and improve processes.
- Manage and mentor a team of fabricators, technicians, and staff, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Utilize technology tools (e.g., CAD software, ERP systems, quality management software) for process tracking, reporting, and data-driven decisions.
- Collaborate with suppliers, clients, and internal teams to resolve issues, ensure customer satisfaction, and support business growth.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for production, quality, and safety; implement corrective actions and lean manufacturing principles as needed.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a safe working environment.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- 10 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication or manufacturing, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Proven technical expertise in sheet metal processes (cutting, bending, welding, assembly) and quality control methods (e.g., dimensional tolerances, non-destructive testing).
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills: ability to build relationships, motivate teams, and communicate effectively with staff, clients, and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in modern technology: experience with quality software, blueprints/CAD, and production management tools.
- Knowledge of quality standards (e.g., ISO, ASME) and lean/six sigma principles is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
- Communication Skills, Accountability and Dependability are critical.
