Data Scientist II

Role Summary
We are looking for a Data Scientist to join the WhatsApp team. In this role, you will partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Design to drive data-informed decisions across our messaging experiences. You'll define metrics, design experiments, build analytical frameworks, and translate complex data into clear recommendations that influence product direction at scale.

Responsibilities
- Define, track, and interpret key product metrics to measure the health and growth of WhatsApp features
- Design and analyze A/B experiments end-to-end, including power calculations, metric selection, and causal inference
- Build analytical frameworks and dashboards that enable self-serve insights for cross-functional partners
- Conduct deep-dive analyses to uncover user behavior patterns, growth opportunities, and areas for improvement
- Partner with Product Managers, Engineers, and Designers to shape product roadmaps through data-driven recommendations
- Develop and maintain data pipelines and models to support scalable, repeatable analysis
- Communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences through written reports and presentations
- Identify and drive proactive research questions that inform long-term product strategy


Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, or related)
- 3+ years of experience in a data science or analytics role
- Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (Python or R)
- Strong foundation in statistics — hypothesis testing, regression, causal inference, and experimental design
- Experience designing and analyzing A/B tests at scale
- Ability to communicate complex analyses clearly to diverse stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or PhD in a quantitative field
- Experience working on messaging, communication, or social products
- Familiarity with large-scale data infrastructure (e.g., Hive, Spark, Presto)
- Experience with predictive modeling or machine learning techniques
- Track record of influencing product decisions through data insights
- Comfort operating in a fast-paced, globally distributed team environment
- Experience with logging instrumentation and metric definition from scratch

The pay range that Tundra in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is $53.89/hour – $67.36/hour.

Salary : $54 - $67
