Summary:
The main function of an audio engineer is to use audio equipment for the recording, synchronizing and mixing of music, voices or sound effects.
Job Responsibilities:
• Minimize unwanted sound during production.
• Regulate volume levels and sound quality.
• Place microphones for ambient sound.
• Collaborate with producers and performers.
• Maintain and repair equipment as necessary.
Skills:
• Strong understanding of signal flow, microphone functionality and placement
• Strong understanding of acoustics, sound recording processes and electronics.
• Strong ability to edit audio for track separation and outside sound muffling.
• Strong knowledge of audio editing software.
Education:
• High School Diploma required, bachelor’s degree in music or audio preferred.
