Our client, a leading global healthcare and consulting organization, is seeking an experienced Director - Finance Transformation to drive the successful delivery of large-scale SAP transformation initiatives across global business functions. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in end-to-end SAP implementation delivery, S/4HANA transformation programs, stakeholder management, deployment governance, and cross-functional execution within complex enterprise environments. This role will act as the primary bridge between business and technology teams, working closely with the Client's CFO to ensure successful solution design, implementation execution, business readiness, and transition into steady-state operations while maintaining alignment with program objectives and global standards.

This is a contractual role through the end of 2026, with a strong likelihood of extension well into 2027. Candidates must be able to commute to the Client’s on-site Chicago, US office.

The Role:
Finance Systems Strategy
  • Partner with business stakeholders to translate business requirements into technology-enabled process improvements.
  • Serve as the product owner for the enterprise finance systems landscape, including SAP S/4HANA and related financial applications.
  • Define and maintain the long-term finance systems roadmap aligned with organizational growth and strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate with Finance, IT, HR, and external implementation partners to design and deliver effective business solutions.
SAP S/4HANA Transformation
  • Lead finance transformation initiatives related to SAP S/4HANA, with expertise in Finance & Controlling (FI/CO) and Professional Services capabilities.
  • Provide strategic oversight for system enhancements, upgrades, and new functionality while ensuring alignment with industry best practices.
  • Partner with technical teams and implementation vendors to deliver a scalable, stable, and well-architected finance platform.
Finance Process Excellence
  • Work closely with FP&A, Controllership, Project Finance, and other finance teams to improve financial processes through technology.
  • Strengthen capabilities supporting forecasting, revenue recognition, financial reporting, project accounting, and month-end close.
  • Drive improvements in financial controls, governance, data quality, and reporting accuracy.
Enterprise Integration & Digital Transformation
  • Lead integration efforts between SAP S/4HANA and connected enterprise applications such as CRM, HR, reporting, analytics, and workflow platforms.
  • Identify opportunities to automate processes, improve operational efficiency, and increase visibility across finance functions.
  • Promote adoption of modern digital technologies, automation, and analytics to enhance finance operations.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
  • Build strong partnerships across global business and technology teams.
  • Communicate complex system concepts in a clear and actionable manner to executive and functional stakeholders.
  • Lead organizational change initiatives and foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation.


Requirements

  • 12–15 years of progressive experience in corporate finance, finance operations, finance transformation, or finance systems leadership.
  • Proven experience leading or playing a key role in SAP S/4HANA implementation, preferably within a professional services organization.
  • Strong understanding of finance processes, accounting principles, internal controls, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience leading enterprise-wide technology initiatives involving cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on execution in a global, matrixed organization.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, collaborate, and drive organizational change.
  • Willingness to travel based on business requirements.
