Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Take and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates
- Support medication administration under supervision and ensure proper documentation in electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Provide specialized care for patients with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, or other memory-related conditions, ensuring safety and comfort
- Assist with patient transfers using safe handling techniques and transfer methods appropriate for each individual’s needs
- Maintain patient confidentiality by adhering to HIPAA regulations and safeguarding medical records and sensitive information
- Collaborate effectively with nursing staff and other healthcare team members to deliver comprehensive patient care across acute, long-term, or community-based settings
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in accordance with state regulations
- Experience working in diverse healthcare environments such as hospitals, long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, or home care is highly preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and aseptic techniques necessary for safe patient care
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner is a plus
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely and efficiently, including heavy lifting and safe lifting practices
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages—including pediatric and geriatric populations—and coordinate with healthcare teams
- Basic life support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain certification upon hire
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges is advantageous
- Demonstrated commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and compassionate caregiving
