Job Title: Production Lead
Position Summary
MET Manufacturing Group is seeking a dependable and hands-on Fabrication Production Lead to support daily operations within the fabrication department. This role works directly under the Production Manager, assisting with shop floor coordination, operator support, and material flow to help ensure production runs efficiently and on schedule.
This position does not have direct responsibility for scheduling or personnel management but plays a critical role in executing the Production Manager’s direction and maintaining workflow on the floor.
Key Responsibilities
- Production Support
- Assist in ensuring operators stay on task and complete work orders in alignment with assigned due dates
- Help reinforce daily production priorities as established by the Production Manager
- Operator Assistance
- Support operators with machine setups and changeovers to help minimize downtime
- Provide hands-on assistance and basic troubleshooting as needed
- Equipment Coverage & Versatility
- Maintain working knowledge of all fabrication production equipment
- Be capable of operating equipment across the department (laser, forming, etc.)
- Fill in for operators as needed to support production demands, breaks, or staffing gaps
- Fabrication Floor Coordination
- Assist in maintaining organization and flow throughout the fabrication department
- Support movement of materials, including:
- Moving raw material from the warehouse to machines
- Transferring parts to the next operation within the shop
- Team Support & Coverage
- Serve as a point of support on the floor when the Production Manager is unavailable due to meetings, vacation, or other absences
- Help maintain communication and coordination between operators and management
Qualifications
- 2–3 years of experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment preferred
- Working knowledge of fabrication equipment (laser cutting, press brake, stamping presses, waterjets, CNC routers, etc.)
- Ability and willingness to operate multiple machines as needed
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
- Good organizational and communication skills
- Forklift experience preferred (or willingness to be trained)
