Estimation Engineer

The Estimating Engineer plays a key role in supporting MET Manufacturing’s growth and customer satisfaction by developing accurate and timely cost estimates for new and existing projects. This individual will review customer prints and specifications, prepare detailed cost breakdowns, create initial layouts using CAD, and coordinate with vendors and internal teams to ensure competitive and complete quotations. The Estimating Engineer bridges the gap between engineering, production, and sales to ensure that awarded projects are successfully launched into production.

• Analyze customer RFQs, blueprints, and specifications to determine material, labor, tooling, and outside service requirements.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates and formal quotations within established turnaround times.
• Develop initial layouts or concept models in CAD to support quoting and feasibility reviews.
• Collaborate with vendors to obtain accurate pricing for materials, tooling, and subcontracted services.
• Work closely with the engineering and production teams to validate manufacturability and ensure smooth job handoff once awarded.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements during the quoting phase.
• Maintain organized quote records, supporting data, and communication with customers as required.
• Support the sales team in technical discussions or proposal reviews as needed.

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3 years of experience in estimating, manufacturing engineering, or related role within a metal fabrication, machining, or contract manufacturing environment.
• 5 Years of overall manufacturing experience.
• Proficient with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including fabrication, welding, machining, assembly, and finishing.
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple RFQs and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Working knowledge of ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• BONUS: Familiar with Paperless Parts and JobBoss E2 Software.
