What are the responsibilities and job description for the Meat Butcher position at Met Fresh Supermarket?
Key Responsibilities:
- Cut, trim, bone, and portion meats such as beef, pork, chicken, and lamb.
- Prepare specialty cuts and customer-requested portions.
- Operate meat-cutting equipment, knives, grinders, and saws safely.
- Package and label meat products with correct weight, price, and dates.
- Maintain proper storage and temperature control for all meat products.
- Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, tools, and equipment.
- Rotate stock and remove expired or unsellable products.
- Set up and maintain attractive meat displays in the department.
- Assist customers with selecting cuts of meat and provide cooking or preparation advice.
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety regulations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Training or apprenticeship in meat cutting/butchery is an advantage.
- Knowledge of different meat cuts and preparation techniques.
- Ability to use sharp tools and operate meat-processing equipment safely.
- Physical strength to lift and handle heavy items.
- Understanding of food safety and sanitation standards.
