Who We Are:
Messiah Lifeways is a non-profit organization located in Mechanicsburg, PA, that provides a network of services for adults 55 and better living in South Central PA. Our roots trace back to 1896, when the Brethren in Christ Church founded Messiah Home in Harrisburg, PA, to serve older adults with Christ-like love.
Position Summary:
The Campus Services Intern supports the Campus Services Department, which includes Maintenance, Security, Environmental Services, Guest Services, Transportation, Purchasing, Shipping and Receiving, Grounds, and Construction Services. The intern assists with projects, reports, logistics, and day-to-day operational tasks while gaining exposure to essential business processes and contributing to team initiatives.
The primary focus of the internship is a Key Management Project, which involves logging, tracking, assigning, and testing keys across the campus. Additional project work may include project management support, development and documentation of policies and procedures, creation of Campus Services workflows and templates, and blueprint identification and organization, along with other departmental initiatives.
The Operations Intern must be enrolled in a post-secondary program.
What We’re Looking For:
- Must be able to commit to interning for 3 months.
- Must be able to work a minimum of 10 hours a week with a minimum of 3 hours per day in person. (Estimated but flexible based on college/degree requirements)
- Proficiency in Microsoft office.
- Enthusiastic, eager to learn, well organized, and able to work independently and within a team.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, personal integrity, and the ability to present Messiah Lifeways in a positive, professional, and engaging manner.
More About What You’ll Be Doing:
- Report to and directly support the Campus Services department and staff.
- Assist with executing everyday operational tasks, department projects, documentation etc. using programs such as Word, Excel, and Publisher.
- Working closely with multiple groups of diverse interests (Purchasing, Logistics, Maintenance, Construction, Environmental services, Guest Services, Grounds and Transportation) while supporting and implementing current processes.
- Gain exposure to organizational operations from Purchasing, Logistics, Maintenance, Construction, Environmental Services, Guest Services, Grounds and Transportation staff
- Participate in meetings with Messiah Lifeways Campus Services Departments they will perform a variety of miscellaneous tasks/duties associated with Campus Services operations
