What are the responsibilities and job description for the Office Clerk position at Mesquite Treatment Center?
Job Duties
1. Ensure all claims are submitted with a goal of zero errors.
2. Verifies completeness and accuracy of all claims prior to submission.
3. Accurately Post all insurance payments by line item.
4. Timely follow up on insurance claim denials, exceptions or exclusions.
5. Meet deadlines.
6. Reading and interpreting insurance explanation of benefits.
7. Utilize monthly aging accounts receivable reports to follow up on unpaid claims aged over 30 days.
8. Make necessary arrangements for medical records requests, completion of additional information requests, etc. as requested by insurance companies.
9. Respond to inquiries from insurance companies, patients and providers.
10. Regularly meet with Account Manager to discuss and resolve reimbursement issues or billing obstacles.
11. Regularly attend monthly staff meetings and continuing educational sessions as requested.
12. Perform additional duties as requested by Supervisory or Management team.
13. Prioritize and plan work activities; use time efficiently; follow through on commitments.
14. React well under pressure; treat others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position
15. Verify Insurance and benefit limitations.
16. Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma Required
- Billing & Coding Certification Preferred
- Bilingual Fluent
- Prior experience working with the public required
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Ability to manage relationships with various Insurance payers.
- Experience in filing claim appeals with insurance companies to ensure maximum entitled reimbursement.
- Responsible use of confidential information.
- Customer service skills
