What are the responsibilities and job description for the Crossing Guard Supervisor position at Mesquite ISD?
- The primary job of the School Crossing Guard Supervisor is to provide oversight, supervision, and leadership to the School Crossing Guard Program. This individual will monitor school crossing guards to ensure adequate coverage, coordinate crossing guard training and responsible for administrative duties pertaining to crossing guards.
- High School Diploma/GED
- Associates Degree preferred
- Valid Texas Driver license
- Comprehensive knowledge of school zone ordinances and related traffic laws
- Knowledge of administrative and personnel management principles, practices and procedures of the assigned department
- Ability to conduct field work, school crossing programs, and promote a willingness in employees to adhere to safety standards, utilization safety equipment and exhibit concern for safety of oneself and others
- Ability to develop visual aids and other instructional materials to meet specific safety and training needs of the department
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public
- Demonstrate effective communication, public relations and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain accurate work records and prepare reports from records and other source data
- Availability for shifts both before and after school
- Reliable transportation and a clean driving record
- Possess computer skills; including email, word processing and spreadsheets
- Minimum of 3 years of verifiable supervisor experience
- Work with Risk Management and Auxiliary Personnel to identify and interview applicants for approval to hire
- Develop recruitment strategy for school crossing guard program
- Develop and maintain up to date and comprehensive training program for crossing guards
- Maintain records and equipment logs (inventory & equipment distribution)
- Monitor the performance of school crossing guards
- Monitor existing crossing zones and utilize school crossing guard index to identify potential need for new school zones
- Function as point of contact for school administration and local community regarding concerns and or complaints involving crossing guards
- Report safety risks and violations of the law to the appropriate authorities
- Perform other duties as assigned.
