JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Database Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and optimization of enterprise database systems and backend data services supporting mission-critical operations across multiple departments. The primary responsibility will be to maintain and grow the company Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW). This position focuses on building and maintaining robust data pipelines, developing secure and scalable APIs, and integrating data across diverse enterprise systems including finance, HR, and gaming platforms.
The ideal candidate will have deep SQL expertise, hands-on experience with SSRS and Power BI, and the ability to architect and support an enterprise data warehouse (EDW) environment. The person in this role will collaborate with operational teams, data analytics, and application development teams to ensure accuracy, reliability, and accessibility of business data.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
At least 5 years of experience as a Database Engineer or Developer using Microsoft SQL Server. Advanced proficiency in T-SQL, stored procedures, indexing strategies, and query optimization. Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs, including authentication and data security best practices. Proven experience in SSRS report development, Power BI dashboard design, and data modeling for analytics. Strong knowledge of ETL design and maintenance for enterprise data warehouse (EDW) systems. Experience integrating with third-party or internal enterprise software (e.g., HR, Finance, POS, or CRM systems). Familiarity with Python, .NET, or other scripting languages for backend data automation a plus. Casino, hospitality, or gaming industry experience preferred. Must be able to read, write, understand, and communicate verbally in English.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Design, develop, and maintain SQL databases, APIs, and data pipelines supporting enterprise reporting and integration.
- Implement and maintain data validation scripts to identify, monitor, and correct inconsistencies, inaccuracies, and anomalies in datasets.
- Develop, deploy, and maintain backend API services for internal applications and third-party integrations.
- Manage and optimize ETL processes for data ingestion into the enterprise data warehouse.
- Develop SSRS and Power BI reports and dashboards to support departmental and executive decision-making.
- Ensure high availability, performance tuning, and secure access to production databases.
- Maintain robust database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery (DR/HA) strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define business requirements and translate them into scalable data solutions.
- Monitor and troubleshoot database and API performance, ensuring timely resolution of production issues.
- Provide after-hours or on-call support as part of the IT data operations team.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by management.
