A Claims Processor researches and processes cargo damage claims for Mesilla Valley Transportation. Claims Processors demonstrate a high level of attention to detail in order to identify and solve problems in a timely manner. A strong focus on cost saving measures is critical to the success of this role.

A Claims Processor researches and processes cargo damage claims for Mesilla Valley Transportation. Claims Processors demonstrate a high level of attention to detail in order to identify and solve problems in a timely manner. A strong focus on cost saving measures is critical to the success of this role.
Responsibilities:
- Receives first contact from customers, Fleet Supervisors, or drivers describing damaged, short of over cargo. Calmly walks drivers through the process of taking pictures to identify and justify the damage claims.
- Retrieves bill of lading, shipping order, manifest, invoice, and any other paperwork pertaining to the load and communicates with all necessary individuals on progress.
- Determines validity of claims and extent of company liability, then communicates with claimant on the outcome.
- Coordinates processing of claims with Insurance Carriers.
- Partners with accounting department to process disbursement requests and any necessary charge-backs.
- Initiates any follow-up contact to determine the party at fault and the method most appropriate to settle.
- Enters data into the AS400 system and maintains information from the beginning to the end of the claim, ensuring all investigation notes are updated, clear, and concise.
- Takes initial accident/incident report calls, and enters all new accidents/incident claims into the AS400 system and any necessary spreadsheets.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and at least two years related experiences and/or training.
- Strong experience working with Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook. AS400 experience (Preferred).
- Writes clearly and informatively; Presents numerical data effectively; Able to read and interpret written information.
- Demonstrates attention to detail by demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness.
- Prioritizes and completes administrative tasks correctly and on time.
- Bilingual proficiency in both English & Spanish language a plus
