What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Attorney position at Meshke Paddock & Budzinski, PC?
Meshke, Paddock & Budzinski is in search of an associate attorney. We've been around since the 80’s, focused on representing employer and insurance carriers in workers’ compensation matters.
We know workers’ compensation defense might not be the sexy kind of law you dreamed about in law school—well, to be honest, us neither. But we love it now and it’s a great opportunity for someone who wants to learn a specialty that is in demand. We value a work-life balance for all attorneys and staff with reasonable billable-hour expectations so you can actually enjoy the Alaska activities. We have generous leave and benefits (including firm-paid employee medical, paid parental leave, and 401k match). Our firm’s salary structure is very competitive at the onset and really terrific once you hit your stride.
We are willing to consider applicants ranging from soon to be law school grads to laterals who are looking for a different firm, practice area, or growth to partnership. In all seriousness, we are looking for someone who is self-driven, detail oriented with strong analytical and legal writing skills, has a good sense of humor, enjoys problem solving, and likes working in fast paced environments. We practice before the Workers Compensation Board, the Workers Compensation Appeals Commission, and the Alaska Supreme Court. We also handle subrogation matters that take us to civil court on occasion.
Let us (1) introduce you to the world of litigation, (2) immediately get you hands-on with files, (3) help you develop your own clientele, and (4) put you to work in a relaxed environment with a great team.
This is a practice area with relatively few attorneys—meaning there’s loads of growth/partnership potential—and an unusually congenial bar subsection.
Salary range is $85,000-$140,000 depending on experience with potential for additional performance-based compensation.
Please send a cover letter, resume with references, and writing sample demonstrating legal analysis to Martha Tansik at mtansik@akwcdefense.com.
