New Hire Experience:
1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement, up to a ten-year maximum

1% of the base hourly rate awarded for an AA or higher degree if not required for the position
Job Summary:
To perform chemical water treatment, preventive maintenance, troubleshoot and repair tasks on all types and styles of cooling towers, pumps, motors, fans and water distribution systems and water cooled equipment.
Prior to employment or during the first 3 months of new hire probationary period, drug and alcohol testing shall be required of all new contract employees who work in Operations. Any applicants having a confirmed positive test shall not be eligible for employment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Travel throughout the district to perform chemical water treatment, preventive maintenance, troubleshoot and repair tasks on all types and styles of cooling towers, pumps, motors, fans and water distribution systems and water cooled equipment
- Interface with site-based and department personnel to keep them informed of system status
- Interface with immediate supervisor(s) on a routine basis to keep them informed of work order status
- Process work orders and other paperwork accurately and in a timely manner
- Regular and on-time attendance required
- Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
- Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools
- High school education or equivalent
- Valid Arizona driver's license
- Minimum two years water treatment field experience
- Related trade school training helpful

- Knowledge of chemicals, treatment and hazards associated with HVAC water treatment
- Ability to perform various mechanical and electrical repairs on HVAC equipment
- Working knowledge of chilled water HVAC systems to include closed cool and thermal storage
- Ability to organize and to prioritize workload; to work alone with minimal supervision; have initiative and be a self-starter
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) and to establish and to maintain effective and cooperative working relationships
- Ability to work overtime and to change schedules with minimal notice; willingness to work non-regular hours (weekends, night shift, swing shift, holidays)
- Work occurs across multiple school facilities (elementary, middle, high schools, administrative buildings).
- Includes indoor (mechanical rooms, laboratories) and outdoor (treatment plants, pump stations, irrigation systems) environments.
- Works with chemicals like chlorine, acids, or other water treatment agents
- Must follow OSHA regulations, environmental health codes, and water quality standards set by local and federal agencies (e.g., EPA)
- May require on-call duties, especially in emergencies (e.g., water main breaks or contamination)
- May need to climb ladders or stairs and work at heights or in confined spaces.
- Must lift and carry equipment, supplies, or tools (typically 25–50 pounds)
