Job Summary:

Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:
- Hire, assess, and oversee the performance of assigned staff members
- Provide direct supervision for field supervisors and managers and indirect supervisory assistance for field operations in personnel, labor, food quality, safety, and service
- Conduct site visits to ensure compliance with USDA and ADE policies and regulations of the Child Nutrition Program, as well as ensuring compliance with food safety, sanitation practices, and Maricopa County Health Department regulations
- Work with management teams to ensure a quality program
- Review labor hours worked in assigned areas, evaluate field supervisors and managers, and develop written procedures and training for new procedures, practices, or programs
- Work closely with district personnel, students, and parent groups to promote child nutrition programs
- Prepare required reports and review the status of assigned areas with the director
- Participate in production area design
- Design print marketing materials, including flyers, posters, training materials and menu design
- Assist in interviewing, training, and developing all staff members
- Create marketing materials to promote school meals
- Maintain and grow digital marketing platforms (including social media and communications to district families)
- Develop and maintain content for the department website, communication platforms and online menu software
- Create and implement promotional events highlighting the school meals program
- Provide oversight of the department catering program, including sales, marketing, menu development, recipe writing and staff training
- Promote involvement in professional growth activities and organizations and encourage a positive attitude toward the food service program
- Collaborate with department and school leaders, supervisors, and staff to align processes and procedures while actively seeking their input; lead or participate in joint committees and working groups
- Focus on continuous improvement by analyzing data, assessing systems and timelines, and recommending adjustments to enhance procedures and strategies; provide root cause analysis and suggestions to the administration
- Identify opportunities to optimize the use of various information systems and liaise with system representatives to stay informed on updates and explore potential improvements
- Work with administration and staff to identify ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness in assigned areas and related departmental functions
- Develop and execute both short- and long-term goals for assigned responsibilities
- Stay informed on federal and state laws and best practices relevant to the assigned area through ongoing research
- Assist in plan reviews for new and renovated kitchens
- Manage special projects and perform additional tasks related to areas of responsibility as assigned by administration
- Assist with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools
- Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, Food Management or another equivalent Degree
- ServSafe Certification required
- Registration with the ‘Commission on Dietetic Registration’ of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics preferred
- Supervisory experience in institutional food production and service required, school nutrition and catering experience preferred
- Valid Arizona driver’s license

- Must possess strong presentation skills
- Computer proficiency to include use of basic software applications (Word, Excel, Email, etc.) and familiarity with web-based programs (Google Docs, marketing and design software, etc.) including understanding of point of sales software
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) and to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with students, parents, and district personnel at all levels
- Excellent leadership skills; human relation skills in conflict resolution and problem solving
- Knowledge of HACCP and workplace safety requirements
- Conducts research, plans marketing strategies, and manages catering program
- Works on branding, advertising, and product positioning
- Uses computers, phones, and other digital tools frequently
- Works in test kitchens or food labs for product development and quality assessment
- Standing for extended periods while working in kitchens, production facilities, or during field visits.
- Ability and willingness to drive own vehicle to various locations
- Occasionally required to lift product samples, presentation materials, or kitchen equipment (typically under 25 pounds)
