Job Summary:
To receive, store, load and deliver food products and equipment and to maintain the warehouse in a clean, safe and operational condition.
Prior to employment or during the first 3 months of new hire probationary period, drug and alcohol testing shall be required of all new contract employees who work in Food and Nutrition. Any applicants having a confirmed positive test shall not be eligible for employment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Check in-coming and out-going products for accuracy and damage
- Effectively manage stock rotation practicing first in, first out inventory principles
- Load food and supply items at warehouse; deliver and unload in proper locations at central, cooking and elementary kitchens as directed by site managers
- Deliver prepared food products and other supplies to elementary kitchens from central kitchens
- Fill cafeteria food and equipment orders
- Transport outgoing and incoming mail between office and school sites
- Prepare large equipment for delivery to schools and assist in delivery as needed
- Keep dry storage, freezer and cooler clean and organized in order to meet Federal, State and County Health Department standards
- Conduct daily vehicle safety inspections to ensure compliance with DOT regulations
- Regular and on-time attendance required
- Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
- Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
- Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools
Required Qualifications:
- Warehouse experience, preferable in food service policies and procedures, with knowledge and experience in handling dry, frozen and refrigerated products
Preferred Qualifications:
- High school education or equivalent
- Arizona Class B CDL license

- Ability to operate all warehouse material handling and food transport equipment to include forklifts and electric pallet jacks
- Ability to handle and deliver temperature-controlled food items on a daily, time sensitive schedule
- Have a safe driving record and provide MVD Driver License Motor Vehicle Record, if offered position
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Fast paced environment especially during delivery times
- Occasional travel to schools and cafeterias within the district to deliver food and supplies
- Moderate noise from forklifts, pallet jacks, and loading equipment
- Must communicate with cafeteria managers, warehouse staff, and district supervisors
- May involve repetitive bending, twisting, and lifting throughout the shift
- Long periods of standing and walking on hard surfaces, especially while sorting or delivering supplies
- Regularly lift, push, pull, or carry items weighing 75-100 lbs., sometimes heavier with assistance
