Work Schedule Academic Year 2025 -2026 Scheduled between 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM, with specific days of the week determined by course schedule assignments. Job Summary The Automotive Lab Instructor (Adjunct) assists students in completing ASE Education Foundation task sheets and developing hands-on skills in a lab environment. This position supports student learning by coaching and supervising practical exercises, reinforcing safety and professional standards, and helping students apply classroom knowledge in real-world scenarios. Additional Information Position is contingent upon availability of funding. Essential Functions • Provides guidance and instruction to students completing ASE task sheets in the automotive lab. • Demonstrates proper techniques for using automotive tools, equipment, and diagnostic procedures. • Monitors student progress and provides constructive feedback on performance and skill development. • Enforces lab safety protocols and ensures a safe working environment. • Assists in maintaining an organized and functional lab space, including tools and equipment. • Collaborates with faculty to align lab activities with course objectives. • Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications For occupational disciplines, a combination of education and/or experience is required to qualify. A faculty may qualify with any of the following: • Five (5) years of occupational experience in the field to be taught, OR • Three (3) years of occupational experience in the field to be taught and a Bachelor’s degree or higher, OR • A Master’s degree or higher in the teaching field, OR • A Master’s degree or higher in any field with 18 graduate credits in the teaching field, OR • A Master’s degree or higher in any field with a combination of 24 upper-division and/or graduate credits in the teaching field. Additionally: • Per our ASE Foundation school certification, all faculty must have the appropriate Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications relevant to the courses taught. • Ability to communicate effectively with students and model professional workplace behavior. To meet occupational discipline requirements and ASE Foundation certification: • Faculty must provide a 5-year full-time work experience letter from HR/Employer documenting demonstrated expertise in the field to be taught which must state the work is/was a full-time position. • Faculty must also provide at time of hire updated Resume • All faculty must hold and maintain appropriate ASE Certifications and G1 Certification as required by program accreditation. Desired Qualifications • Current ASE Master Technician certification. • Previous teaching or training experience in an automotive setting. • Experience working with diverse student populations. Special Working Conditions • Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate’s own expense. • May require some evenings or weekends. • May require prolonged periods of standing and working in a shop/lab environment.
