MES SURGERY CENTER

Position Summary

MES Surgery Center is seeking a skilled and dedicated RN to join our team at a high-volume ophthalmology ambulatory surgery center. This position encompasses a rotating scope of practice including OR Circulator and Pre-Op/Post-Op care, offering variety and an engaging clinical environment. While not required, perioperative and/or OR experience is preferred.

This is a full time, Monday -Thursday role, 10 Hour shifts

Key Responsibilities

OR Circulator

• Serve as the patient advocate and primary non-sterile team member within the operative suite
• Provide intraoperative nursing care in collaboration with the surgeon, surgical technologist, and anesthesia provider
• Maintain accurate documentation of intraoperative events, counts, and patient status throughout the procedure
• Ensure a safe, efficient, and compliant surgical environment in accordance with AORN standards and facility policy

Pre-operative Care

• Conduct preoperative nursing assessments, including patient history review, medication reconciliation, and baseline vital sign documentation
• Prepare patients for surgical procedures in accordance with facility protocols and surgeon preferences
• Provide patient and family education regarding the surgical experience, anesthesia, and perioperative expectations
• Ensure informed consent is obtained and all preoperative checklist items are complete prior to transfer to the operative suite

Post-Anesthesia Recovery (PACU)

• Receive and assess patients upon arrival to the recovery area, establishing baseline status and continuity of care from the OR team
• Monitor and document patient recovery progress, including vital signs, pain management, neurological status, and anesthesia emergence
• Identify and promptly communicate any signs of postoperative complications to the surgeon or anesthesia provider
• Provide individualized nursing care based on the patient's surgical condition and type of anesthesia administered
• Prepare patients and caregivers for discharge through comprehensive education, written instructions, and follow-up guidance

Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted RN licensure
• BLS required at time of hire, ACLS at time of, or after hire
• Perioperative or surgical nursing experience preferred
• Strong assessment skills, clinical judgment, and the ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient-centered care approach

Pay: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36.0 – 40.0 per week
