What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scale Clerk position at Mervis Recycling?
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: The employee in this position will weigh and inspect all incoming vehicles. In addition, the job will require the dispatching of trucks for local pick-ups as well as local and long distance deliveries. This employee reports directly to the Manager.
JOB DUTIES:
1. Inspect & weigh all incoming traffic
a. All off-specification material will be handled according to the material receiving and shipping policies
2. Inspect all outgoing scrap
a. All off-specification material will be handled according to the material receiving and shipping policies
3. Perform general clerical duties such as filing, record-keeping, and typing are completed in an accurate and professional manner
CLERICAL DUTIES:
1. Cash disbursements –
§ All transactions are properly and accurately recorded
§ All transactions are properly and accurately disbursed
§ The cashier reconciliation is accurate and complete at each daily closing
2. Opening and closing of the scale
§ The scale system must be brought online and closed successfully and on-time each day
§ Scale activity is conducted in a courteous, professional and expeditious manner with minimal disruption to the flow of traffic through the facility
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
1 Able to pass a Background and Credit check
2. Unblemished work and attendance record
3. High School diploma or equivalent with additional training
4. The ability to work together with other employees as a team
5. The ability and willingness to learn new skills
6. Honesty, integrity, and trustworthiness
SPECIFIC SKILLS
1. Good communication skills
2. Good math skills
3. Basic computer literacy in Microsoft Excel
4. The ability to work accurately in a stressful situation
5. Self-starter
EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
1. Scrap purchasing experience is desired
2. Retail experience a plus
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
