About the Role:
The Safety Analyst plays a pivotal role in elevating our enterprise-wide safety performance through rigorous data analytics, trend evaluation, and strategic decision support. Reporting to the Senior Safety Director, this position conducts in-depth analyses, interprets safety performance data, and provides actionable insights that guide policy development and program enhancement.
This role serves as a strategic bridge between operations and executive leadership, requiring strong analytical expertise, regulatory knowledge, and an ability to communicate complex findings in a clear and compelling manner. Your work will directly support our ongoing commitment to safety excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement across all Meruelo Enterprises subsidiaries.
Key Responsibilities:
² Develop and manage advanced analytics dashboards and reporting tools using Power BI, E-Compliance, Samsara, Tableau, ISNetworld, and Excel.
² Conduct trend analyses on incidents, leading indicators, contractor safety metrics, and regulatory data.
² Interpret findings and present strategic recommendations to executive leadership related to safety enhancements, audit priorities, and training needs.
² Monitor and report on company-wide compliance with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, NESC, and other applicable regulatory standards.
² Maintain audit-ready documentation for client, regulatory, and third-party audits (e.g., SCE, LADWP, SDG&E, SoCalGas).
² Oversee digital safety records and reporting protocols across MEI subsidiaries.
² Support development, updates, and implementation of company-wide safety policies and procedures, particularly in civil construction, excavation, underground utilities, and traffic control operations.
² Identify gaps or inconsistencies in safety data and implement process improvements to strengthen risk management.
² Serve as a key resource to Safety Directors on performance data, regulatory requirements, and procedural interpretation.
² Coordinate safety-related data and reporting with HR, Legal, and executive leadership.
² Maintain, enhance, and optimize digital safety platforms, including the Safety Management System (SMS), ensuring accuracy, functionality, and alignment with operational and compliance needs.
² Develop, implement, and monitor the company’s training matrix and training programs to maintain workforce competency and compliance.
² Collaborate with IT teams and EHS platform vendors to enhance system functionality and integration.
² Provide guidance and peer review for field-reported incidents, root-cause analyses, and audit findings.
Qualifications:
² 5 years of safety experience in a construction, engineering, utilities, or similar environment.
² Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Data Analytics, Construction Management, or related field.
² Strong expertise in OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and construction safety standards, including confined space, excavation, and traffic-safety regulations.
² Ability to conduct field visits and collaborate directly with construction crews as needed.
² Demonstrated experience designing dashboards, visualizing KPIs, and presenting safety analytics to leadership.
² Proven ability to deliver clear, concise presentations to senior leadership and external clients.
² Proficiency with ISNetworld, E-Compliance, SMS platforms, Power BI, and advanced Microsoft Excel.
