What are the responsibilities and job description for the Equipment Delivery driver/Yard Attendant position at Mertens Heavy Equipment?
We are seeking a dependable and organized Yard Manager / Equipment Delivery Driver to oversee day-to-day yard operations and handle the safe, timely delivery and pickup of equipment to job sites. This dual-role position requires someone who can manage inventory, coordinate logistics, maintain equipment, and ensure deliveries run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organize and maintain the equipment yard, ensuring cleanliness, order, and safety.
- Load, secure, and transport heavy equipment (e.g., skid steers, excavators, attachments) to and from job sites using a truck and trailer.
- Track equipment inventory and communicate with the operations team about needs or shortages.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure safe transport and proper maintenance of equipment.
- Assist with minor repairs, maintenance checks, and identifying equipment needing service.
- Work with mechanics and field staff to ensure equipment is ready when needed.
- Maintain delivery schedules and provide excellent customer service on-site.
Requirements:
- Valid CDL (or ability to obtain, if required by equipment type).
- Experience hauling heavy equipment and operating machinery is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and safety procedures.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Excellent time management and communication skills.
CDL is a MUST.

Pay: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour
