Job Summary
We are a family-owned local business, serving the Erie community since 1982. We are seeking a receptionist & billing manager who has prior experience with dental insurance billing! We currently use Softdent for our office software and scheduling. On the job training can be provided specifically for Softdent if needed. This is not an entry-level position, experience is required.
Duties
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival, ensuring smooth check-in and check-out procedures while maintaining excellent phone etiquette on multi-line phone systems.
- Schedule appointments efficiently using dental practice management software such as Softdent, coordinating with clinical staff to optimize daily workflows.
- Verify insurance coverage, process claims, and handle patient billing using systems; ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Manage patient records accurately.
- Review documentation for accuracy, including medical records, care plans, CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes, ICD-9/10 codes, and dental terminology to facilitate precise billing and coding.
- Conduct insurance verification for Medicare and private insurers; follow up on unpaid claims and outstanding balances through medical collection procedures.
- Maintain organized filing of medical records and billing documents; perform clerical tasks such as data entry and filing to support daily operations.
- Assist with intake procedures for new patients while providing exemplary customer service to enhance patient satisfaction.
- Support office management by coordinating medical scheduling, handling inquiries about dental office services, and ensuring smooth front desk operations.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental office environment is required; familiarity with dental terminology and clinical workflows is a must.
- Demonstrated proficiency in EMR systems such as Softdent, or similar platforms.
- Strong knowledge of dental billing practices including insurance verification, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), and Medicare procedures.
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for documentation review and administrative tasks.
- Proven ability to handle medical administrative support tasks efficiently while maintaining compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Exceptional customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette in a fast-paced environment.
