Location: Auburn Hills, MI

Job Summary:

The Sr. Fleet Analyst is the analytical backbone of the Fleet & Service organization. This role partners directly with the SVP, Fleet & Service and the broader leadership team to translate operational and financial data into clear, actionable insight. The Sr. Fleet Analyst is responsible for the integrity of fleet performance reporting, root cause analysis on KPI deviations, return-on-investment modeling, capital planning support, and the financial view of the fleet (OEC, NBV, depreciation, net capex). The Sr. Fleet Analyst is expected to grow into a peer-partner relationship with department heads — bringing data, insight, and recommendations to the table to support tactical execution and strategic decision-making across the combined organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect, organize, and analyze data on fleet and service operations, including utilization, maintenance expense, repair history, fuel, and performance metrics across the combined fleet
  • Develop and maintain reporting tools, dashboards, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for the Fleet & Service organization; identify trends, outliers, and exceptions for follow-up
  • Conduct root cause analysis on KPI deviations and operational issues; partner with regional fleet managers, regional service managers, and branch leadership to understand drivers and support corrective action
  • Build and maintain return-on-investment and cost-benefit models for capital expenditure requests, fleet conversions, refurbishment-versus-replacement decisions, and major repair cases
  • Own the financial view of the fleet, including Original Equipment Cost (OEC), Net Book Value (NBV), depreciation curves, and net capital expenditure tracking; reconcile differences across systems and reporting books
  • Prepare data, analysis, and presentation materials for monthly Operating Reviews (MOR), quarterly board reporting, and ad hoc executive briefings
  • Support the service damage billing process by auditing, identifying, and quantifying recovery opportunities; partner with service leadership to track resolution and capture
  • Serve as the Fleet & Service group's champion for AI and automation tooling — identify use cases, build prototypes in partnership with the SVP, and scale successful workflows for recurring use
  • Act as a cross-functional partner to Inventory, Purchasing, Service, and Logistics teams; surface observations, flag risks, and provide data-driven inputs that support sound operational and capital decisions
  • Develop deep working knowledge of the combined Mersino-Ironclad business — the equipment, the branches, the customer base, and the operating model — to elevate the quality and credibility of analytical output over time
  • Support post-merger integration analytics including system reconciliation, fleet rationalization, branch performance views, and capital governance
  • Stay current on industry trends, benchmarks, and best practices in equipment rental, fleet management, and industrial services; incorporate relevant insights into recommendations
  • Participate in cross-functional teams and projects to support overall business objectives and initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, engineering, physics, or related analytical field
  • 5 years of progressive experience in analytical, quality engineering, financial analysis, operations analytics, or related roles; experience in equipment rental, fleet management, logistics, or industrial services preferred but not required
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to collect, organize, and interpret large and imperfect datasets
  • Demonstrated proficiency in root cause analysis, structured problem-solving, and process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; working knowledge of PowerPoint, Power BI, or comparable reporting and visualization tools
  • Familiarity with financial concepts including capital expenditures, depreciation, total cost of ownership (TCO), return on investment, and basic GAAP principles
  • Experience presenting data-driven findings and recommendations to senior leadership and cross-functional audiences
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity, with the ability to structure undefined problems and work independently with limited direction
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely
  • Practical experience with ERP, fleet management, or business intelligence software preferred

Specific Expectations:

  • Develop the company and industry knowledge required to operate as a peer-partner to department leaders within the first 12 months
  • Build and maintain credibility through accuracy, intellectual honesty, and consistent delivery; flag what is not known as readily as what is
  • Must be able to handle direct, candid discussions with employees, peers, and leadership
  • Must be comfortable speaking in front of medium to large groups and presenting to executive audiences
  • Must be able to formulate, based on data, recommendations and action plans for correction and improvement
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
