What are the responsibilities and job description for the Metal Finisher position at Merritt?
Duties & Responsibilities – Finishing
Work as an integral part of the Prep/Finishing of custom metalwork runs.
Perform the following finishing operations:
Sanding and preparing fabricated parts for final finishing (brushing, patina, polishing, spraying)
Blending seams on welded components
Apply patina and oxidizing chemicals to match provided samples
Maintain all quality standards within sanding, polishing, patina, clearcoat operations.
Routinely monitor products for completion of the job.
Properly manage all waste per compliance requirement.
Duplicate and modify samples as requested by Project Management
Document changes in processes/keep detailed notes on what was done.
Ability to multitask and juggle shifting job priorities
Requirements & Qualifications – Finishing
Possesses working knowledge of metalworking and general Finishing Techniques.
Skilled use of sprayers, patinas, grinding, sanding, and buffing equipment.
Correctly perform all aspects of routine work, meeting quality standards and requirements.
Ability to achieve results in an accurate and timely manner.
Maintain awareness of shipping schedules and adjust work capacity needs as required.
Keep work areas clean and safe.
Communicate effectively with CO – Workers, Managers, and others.
Share knowledge and ideas.
Perform activities that directly support team outcomes.
Flexibility in cross – training.
Perform duties based on instructions/past practices.
Takes responsibility for own contributes to team.

- Clear Applications include use of lacquer, Polyurethane, waxes and Oils.
- Color Applications include use of Patinas, Toners, and Wax.
Maintain all quality standards within sanding, polishing, patina, clearcoat operations.
