What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Tech position at Merritt?
Purpose of position
Assist the Facilities and Maintenance Supervisor in maintaining all mechanical equipment and components within the facility. The objective of this role is to optimize the equipment availability and to ensure all internal and external building maintenance is operational and maintained within required standards. Additional responsibilities include external grounds maintenance, all buildings general maintenance, production equipment and safety throughout the facilities which may include external contract negotiations and monitoring.
Role and Responsibilities
- Machine maintenance supporting daily manufacturing operations (i.e. troubleshooting machines)
- Plant and operations maintenance (i.e. electrical, plumbing, cables, and general carpentry)
- Read and interpret manuals to perform required maintenance and service
- Use of hand and power tools in performing job duties
- Housekeeping and janitorial services, if needed
- Drive root cause analysis through structured diagnoses of equipment failures
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Must have prior maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
- Proficient in troubleshooting machines
- Must be highly self-motivated to be able to identify, analyze and independently work to find solutions
- Must be able to read and interpret mechanical drawings, pneumatic and hydraulic schematics
- Working knowledge of design & wire - single and 3 phase systems
- Knowledge of OSHA, safety, and hazardous materials
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance procedures and programs
- Basic Microsoft Office skills
