River is an independently owned reformer gym in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, with coached classes, private sessions, and Free Flow open gym. We're building our founding team and looking for an experienced instructor to help shape our method and support our coaches.

THE ROLE

Lead River 50, our signature 50-minute class, on an advanced mega reformer. Work with our founding team on class sequences, movements, transitions, clear cues, and thoughtful modifications. Coach recurring classes and support fellow coaches through practice, constructive feedback, and demonstrations during paid team training.

PAY & SCHEDULE

$65 per class base, plus $3 per participant above five: $65–80 per class.

Part-time to start, around 4–9 classes per week, with morning, evening, and some weekend availability. Private sessions and open gym shifts may also be available.

All training time is paid. Training and method-development consulting outside team training hours includes an additional bonus. We'll agree on consulting pay, bonus details, and the schedule before that work begins. Pre-opening preparation may involve longer consulting and development days.

THE TRAINING

River provides machine training at no cost to you, and your training time is paid. Bring your existing teaching experience and movement knowledge; you'll complete River's machine training before leading classes.

PERKS

Free drop-in on open beds, $15 to reserve a class, and open gym access; a drink and snack each shift; River clothing and grip socks; recurring coaching blocks and a voice in shaping the founding team.

Job requirements

• Pilates or fitness instruction experience.
• Familiarity with mega reformer Pilates through coaching or regularly taking classes.
• Confidence leading a room, noticing form, and adapting workouts for different experience levels.
• Enthusiasm for developing class sequences, cues, movements, and modifications.
• A collaborative approach to mentoring and giving constructive feedback.
• Willingness to demonstrate movements and teaching approaches during paid team training.
• Reliability with recurring weekly blocks and willingness to sub when needed.
• Experience developing a fitness method is a plus.

River provides training on our machine. No prior certification in River's method is required.
