Your final base salary will be determined based on your education, experience, licensure, and internal equity considerations. Offers are typically made below the top of the range to support future salary growth.

JOB SUMMARY:

Lead the day-to-day operations of the supply chain strategic contracting functions for the health system. Provide support for the procurement of supplies, services and equipment required for the system’s operation. Research, create, compile and analyze financial information for supply chain operations to support contracting and procurement activities. Support the system’s overall expense, operational, quality and safety improvement goals and enhances the department’s dependability, quality, and efficiency. Support planning, direction, facilitation, and coordination of strategic sourcing related functions in support of Merrimack Health’s mission and vision. Provide assistance to all members of the supply chain workforce in meeting operational and fiscal objectives related to supply and service provider selection, procurement, contract negotiations, asset management and the ethical execution of all related business functions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the Supply Chain Director in setting direction of the supply chain contracting process and associated Clinical Quality Value Analysis (CQVA) activities.
  • Direct responsibility for contracting activities, including supplier negotiations on pricing, terms and conditions.
  • Manage key hospital contracts to ensure agreements are in direct alignment with the health system’s strategic direction.
  • Monitor expiring contracts and collaborate on renewal or bid strategies with department leaders.
  • Responsible for adherence to departmental and organizational contracting policies associated with the department’s purpose and scope of essential responsibilities.
  • Collaboration with the Purchasing Department, other hospital departments, GPO, aggregation group, vendors and distributors on procurement activities.
  • Contribute to the Department’s Strategic Plan by developing and implementing new initiatives appropriate to the current business environment, which will include an annual expense reduction target.
  • Support the health system’s Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and ensure proper stewardship over supply expenses.
  • Collaborate with Department Director and Managers to develop performance metrics to track and improve supply chain performance.
  • Prioritize and directs supply chain projects and initiatives.
  • Support the CQVA Teams; facilitate associated subgroups and serve on other hospital committees and task forces as required.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of professional skill with respect to the business disciplines Of supply chain and materials management, including a broad-based knowledge of local, regional and national business and market conditions, drivers and technologies.
  • Perform special projects as assigned.

EDUCATION AND RELATED EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management or a closely related field.
  • 3 or more years’ purchasing and contracting experience in the healthcare supply chain.
  • Proficiency in dealing with key stakeholders at all levels of the organization, including but not limited to department heads, physicians, and clinical staff.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with standard office software, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Preferred:

  • 5 or more years’ purchasing and contracting experience in the healthcare supply chain.
