What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adelante Program Coordinator position at MERRIMACK VALLEY YMCA?
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Adelante Program Coordinator will assume the accountability for the planning, development, promotion, and teaching of the Adelante Program at the Merrimack Valley YMCA Lawrence Branch.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensuring innovative program development and high-quality program delivery of the Adelante Program at the Lawrence YMCA.
- Support students through high school application process and transition from middle school to high school.
- Lead orientation and program facilitation
- Support scholars in high school open house activities (private, public, boarding, technical schools)
- Collaborate with internal team and external partners to ensure student success
- In conjunction with Executive Director, lead and manage the high school scholarship process.
- Reporting: regularly tracking the data necessary for fiscal reporting in Adelante; conducting program surveys and analyzing feedback to ensure increased participant engagement and satisfaction over time; assisting with compiling initial net promoter score
- Sound leadership practices, including: modeling behavior expected from all leadership; relationship-building skills and listen-first skills in all interactions; creating an inclusive environment where everyone belongs and feels welcome; assuring a safe environment with effective risk management measures employed at all times; create accountability throughout their team
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma with a minimum 3 years experience in youth development, human or social services, recreation, or equivalent
- Bilingual candidates, preferred
- Knowledge of, and previous experience with, children, families, and diverse populations
- Excellent customer service skills, as well as oral and written communication skills
- Proven ability to execute staff trainings and facilitate group programming
- Effective organizational and project management skills
- Proven track record of developing authentic and deepened relationships with others.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Organized, accurate record-keeper
- Collaborative team player internally within YMCA and externally within greater community
- CPR, AED, First Aid certification preferred; must obtain within agreed upon timeframe.
