ICU Nurse Practitioner - Per Diem

Position Overview:

Merrimack Health is seeking a dedicated and skilled nurse practitioner on a per diem basis to join our ICU team. This position comes with clinical responsibilities at Lawrence Hospital and a minimum shift requirement (2 per month). 

This role is responsible for the delivery of medical care in accordance with accepted standards of Merrimack Health. Directs and guides patient teaching and the activities of ancillary personnel following departmental and hospital policy and procedures.  The nurse practitioner demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to adult inpatient medically ill patients and medical consultation to all adult patients, medical and surgical.

Responsibilities: 

• Direct care to adult (medical and surgical) hospitalized patients
• Obtaining History and Physical Exam, and developing Assessment and Plan during initial, subsequent and discharge visits
• Collaboration and engagement with the interdisciplinary team (Physician, nurse, case manager, social worker, Physical therapist, etc.)
• Medical consultation for hospitalized patients including preoperative risk assessment
• Care Coordination and discharge planning

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
• Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure
• Current Nurse Practitioner certification in specialty area
• Current provider card in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• One year of Hospital Medicine experience working as an APRN

Schedule & Employment

• Per diem employment includes malpractice coverage; a minimum of 2 shifts per month. Coverage includes PTO of our full-time FTEs; one weekend a month as well as weekdays.
