What are the responsibilities and job description for the On-Call Nurse position at Merrimac Center?
Merrimac Juvenile Detention Center is seeking an on-call Registered Nurse (RN) [preferred] or a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to perform medical duties within the facility.
Duties include conducting medical assessments for new intakes, medication management and administration, assisting with and maintaining resident medical records, and conducting supply and equipment inventories. This position is supervised by the full-time RN.
Applicant must be currently licensed as an RN or LPN in Virginia and have experience working with youth, preferably within a residential or correctional facility. Applicant must have an acceptable background investigation, no founded Child Protective Service complaints, and must possess a valid CPR/First Aid Certification as well as a valid Virginia Driver’s License.
Applicant must commit to working at least one shift per week and then as needed to provide coverage for the full-time nurse. This will include some weekend and evening shifts. Applicant must also attend and/or complete all mandatory training requirements of Merrimac Center. Pay to commensurate with experience and qualifications.
