What are the responsibilities and job description for the Media Services Processor position at Merrillville Community School Corporation?
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Demonstrated proficiency in the operation of computers including knowledge of Destiny Library and Resource Manager, Alliance Plus, T2, Microsoft Office programs, Google Apps for Education, and Internet research.
2. Demonstrated proficiency in the operation of technology devices and telephone skills required.
3. Skyward, Clerical Skills, and Library Skills testing must be successfully passed.
4. Able to lift 25 pounds when working on textbook inventory.
5. Positive attitude and working relationship with school employees, parents, and students.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
6. Acts as the sole cataloger of all books, AV materials, and textbooks for the corporation.
7. Uses the Alliance Plus to catalog all books, videos, and kits in the school corporation.
8. Uses T2 to catalog all textbooks.
9. Uses Resource Manager to catalog all AV materials.
10. Assists with the collection and physical barcoding of textbooks.
11. Conducts and helps oversee the inventory of all barcoded textbooks in the corporation.
12. Oversees the processing of all media and textbook materials for all schools (stamping, barcoding, spine labels, information, covering).
13. Assists in the collection, organization, and documenting of recycled instructional materials.
14. Maintains an accurate and up-to-date automated online catalog in the corporation.
15. Maintains bookkeeping and files pertaining to all library media accounts, including typing requisitions in Boyce.
16. Travels quarterly to each school library to repair books and assist in inventory.
17. Supervises students in the Captain’s Corner during MHS lunches.
18. Subs in the K-6 libraries regularly when a sub is unavailable.
19. Place orders for all materials needed for processing.
20. Responsible for all SCSEP (AARP) employees’ and works daily with overseeing their work.
21. Responsible for supervising student aides.
22. Circulates materials sent back and forth to the nine library media centers and book bus.
