Director of Operations

Position Summary

The Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations across production, planning and scheduling, materials management, project management, engineering and facilities. This position provides leadership to department managers and supervisors, ensuring operational performance, quality, productivity and financial objectives are achieved. The Director of Operations drives continuous improvement, develops operational strategies and supports the company's long-term growth as a member of the senior leadership team.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations across production, planning and scheduling, materials management, project management, engineering and facilities.
• Lead, manage and establish clear accountabilities for department managers and key supervisory personnel.
• Maintain accountability for operational financial performance, including budgets, cost control, productivity and profitability.
• Develop and manage department operating, manpower and capital budgets to support current business needs and long-term objectives.
• Drive continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives across the organization, utilizing lean manufacturing, Six Sigma or other applicable methodologies.
• Identify operational challenges and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, productivity, quality and overall performance.
• Support the company's strategic planning and business development efforts, including initiatives related to low-cost manufacturing and new business opportunities.
• Evaluate production capabilities, equipment and processes to ensure the organization can meet current and future business demands.
• Coordinate resources, staffing and production capacity across departments to meet project schedules and customer commitments.
• Ensure appropriate staffing levels across operational departments based on business needs.
• Monitor operational performance through data analysis, reporting and established performance metrics to support informed decision-making.
• Foster collaboration and communication between departments to ensure alignment on priorities, schedules and business objectives.
• Build and maintain relationships with customers, suppliers, contractors and other business partners.
• Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers, contractors and other third-party vendors as needed.
• Oversee operational safety, including compliance with applicable OSHA regulations, safety policies, permitting requirements and employee safety training.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

• Demonstrated leadership experience overseeing multiple operational departments in a manufacturing or millwork environment.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, construction materials and project phasing.
• Preference for experience with commercial, restaurant and hospitality projects.
• Strong financial and business acumen, with the ability to manage budgets, control costs and improve profitability.
• Proven ability to lead continuous improvement, process optimization and cost reduction initiatives.
• Strong strategic planning, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Excellent project management, organizational and prioritization skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to analyze operational data and use performance metrics to guide decisions.
• Strong communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to lead, motivate and develop managers, supervisors and operational teams.
• Ability to travel as needed.

Education and Experience

• 10 years of millwork leadership and project management experience.
• 10 years of experience leading teams of 15–100 people.
• Demonstrated experience in senior operational leadership, including responsibility for multiple departments.
• Bachelor's degree preferred

Salary : $95,000 - $110,000
