Duties
- Perform comprehensive inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on diesel engines, transmissions, air brake systems, suspensions, hydraulics, and HVAC components of tractor-trailers, reefers, and related equipment
- Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues effectively
- Conduct fabrication tasks such as welding, assembly, and modifications to support equipment repair or customization needs
- Replace or repair shocks & struts, tires, brakes, alignments, power tools components, and perform wheel alignments to ensure vehicle safety and compliance
- Maintain detailed service records and logs for all repairs performed
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of maintenance schedules while adhering to safety standards
Skills
- Proven dealership or heavy equipment repair experience with strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines and automotive diagnostics
- Skilled in fabrication techniques such as welding and soldering; capable of working with hand tools and power tools effectively
- Familiarity with schematics for electrical systems, hydraulics, suspension components, HVAC systems, and transmissions
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance procedures and regulations specific to tractor-trailers and reefers; including brake repair, tire service, wheel alignment, shocks & struts replacement
- Ability to read technical manuals and schematics accurately; strong troubleshooting skills for electrical and mechanical issues
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly with team members and clients about repairs or maintenance needs
