Merrell Bros., Inc. is seeking an experienced and strategic Manager of Industrial Electrical Operations to lead and manage a team of skilled industrial electricians within our Special Operations Division. This position is based at our Corporate Headquarters and plays a critical role in overseeing the design, installation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of electrical systems supporting our biosolids processing facilities and specialized equipment.
You will be responsible for supervising day-to-day operations, leading complex electrical projects, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting a culture of safety, excellence, and efficiency. This role demands both hands-on expertise and high-level coordination skills to successfully manage resources, prioritize projects, and maintain superior service standards across multi-site operations.
- Supervise and develop a high-performing team of industrial electricians; provide coaching, mentorship, and ongoing training.
- Lead performance evaluations, hiring decisions, and resource planning for electrical staff.
- Act as the primary liaison between electricians, mechanical teams, engineering, vendors, and project stakeholders.
- Manage and oversee all aspects of electrical system maintenance, troubleshooting, and modernization.
- Ensure adherence to NEC standards and internal quality/safety protocols.
- Monitor system diagnostics, including PLCs, VFDs, MCCs, and high/low voltage equipment.
- Review and approve electrical designs, plans, and technical documentation.
- Lead electrical aspects of large-scale infrastructure upgrades and capital projects in coordination with Project Managers.
- Schedule work assignments, manage procurement of materials/tools, and track project milestones.
- Ensure regulatory compliance, maintain permitting documentation, and participate in audits or inspections.
- Coordinate electrical activities with internal departments, subcontractors, and customers.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex field issues quickly and professionally.
- Enforce safety programs, procedures, and audits to ensure team operates within OSHA, EPA, and company guidelines.
- Promote continuous improvement in energy use, environmental controls, and system resilience.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the electrical trade within an industrial setting, including supervisory or management experience.
- Extensive understanding of high-voltage (AC/DC, single/three phase), PLCs, and motor control systems.
- Strong working knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) and OSHA standards.
- Experience managing capital projects or equipment modernization programs is highly desirable.
- Proficient with digital work order systems, CAD layouts, or electrical schematics.
- Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certifications and/or journeyman/master electrician credentials preferred.
