This accountant position plays a key role within the accounting function, working closely with both operational and corporate divisions to ensure compliance with financial regulations and the accuracy of all reporting. The accounting team is responsible for measuring profitability across multiple product lines, preparing internal and external financial statements, and maintaining effective communication with internal and external auditors.
The accountant will manage accounting and reporting activities in SAP for a recently acquired terminal operations subsidiary, reporting directly to the Vice President of Internal Audit. This subsidiary oversees complex operations, including ammonia storage and distribution facilities as well as a nitric acid production plant. The accountant will be responsible for preparing balance sheets and profit and loss statements for four plant locations, recording daily transactions, and managing the month-end closing process for each site.
Daily Responsibilities
- Record purchase and sales invoices.
- Perform variance analysis (estimates vs. actual costs).
- Process reversals and reallocations.
- Review and release blocked payables.
Month-End Responsibilities
- Manage cutoff procedures.
- Substantiate balance sheet accounts and perform account analyses.
- Review and post intercompany billings.
General Responsibilities
- Conduct monthly account reconciliations to ensure reporting accuracy and ledger integrity.
- Communicate with representatives of the new subsidiary.
- Support the month-end close and annual audit processes.
- Develop and refine procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Required Skills
Systems / Technology
- Proficiency with SAP FI/SD/MM modules for general trade accounting functions.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other standard office applications.

Salary : $80,000 - $90,000
