Armed Security Officer - Toledo and surrounding areas

Overview

This position is for an armed security officer at various locations in and around Toledo, Ohio.  This is a part time position only. There are no full time positions available at the moment. When a full time position comes available, all part time security officers can bid on that shift in accordance with the current Union rules.  This is an ideal position for someone who has a flexible schedule an able to fill in at various posts. This part time security officer fills in when full time security officers call off sick or are on scheduled vacation. 

 All armed security officers provide services at designated federal buildings/installations.  

 Synopsis

FPS Protective Security Officers (PSOs) are primarily responsible to perform security and monitoring work such as securing federal buildings and property, protecting personnel, equipment and material, and controlling access to work locations by employees and visitors. The PSO will respond to emergencies, conduct inspections and perimeter checks, and access control.

 Licensing Requirements

All applicants must have a valid Ohio Armed Security License (issued by the State of Ohio).  Do not apply if you do not have an active OPOTA. 

You must have 2 years of previous security experience, OR military experience, OR law enforcement to apply for this position.  

Job Requirements

• Clean background check (no felonies or domestic violence/assault charges). All applicants will under a federal background.  Background process can take up to 3 months. 
• U.S. Citizen / hold a social security card
• Must have a high school diploma or GED
• Minimum of 21 years of age
• Shall fluently speak, read, comprehend, and compose coherent written reports in English
• Pass a Medical Evaluation (to be paid for by the company)
• Drug Screen (to be paid for by the company)
• The company will assist in processing for federal background clearances

Certification Requirements

• Must have a valid OPOTA (if you do not have a valid OPOTA do not apply, as your application will be rejected)
• Must have a Valid Driver’s License
• CPR/First Aid/AED certification 

 Training Requirements

All applicants must be 100% trained in both classroom and range/weapons prior to standing post. The government requires that all applicants attend:

• 1 week of classroom training and 1 week of range training, followed by 2 days of x-ray/screening training. New hire receive training pay. 
• All training is in Columbus OH, so be prepared to be available for 1 week to attend in person weapons/OC Spray/Baton training. 
• All uniforms/gear/duty weapon/ammo is provided by the company.
• All guards on this contract belong to a union.

Pay

Current: $30.76 base play plus an additional $5.30 for health and welfare/401K - TOTAL: $36.06
